History
Mehrangarh Fort, begun in 1459 by Rao Jodha, the founder of Jodhpur, crowns a 125-metre rock ridge above the city. Its seven gates, carved in the 19th century to commemorate victories, guard palaces and galleries holding some of India's finest collections of royal art, palanquins, and weaponry. The ramparts offer one of the most breathtaking views in Rajasthan.
