History

Construction began in 1193 under Qutb al-Din Aibak, the first Sultan of Delhi, to mark the beginning of Muslim rule in India. At 73 metres, it remains the tallest brick minaret in the world, surrounded by ruins that span several centuries of Delhi’s history.
