History
Commissioned in 1632 by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan for his wife Mumtaz Mahal, the Taj Mahal took roughly 20 years and 20,000 workers to complete. It is regarded as the finest example of Mughal architecture, blending Persian, Islamic and Indian styles.
