Jagdish Temple

History

The Jagdish Temple, built by Maharana Jagat Singh I in 1651, is the largest and most ornate temple in Udaipur. Its pyramidal shikhara rises 30 metres above the old city, its exterior covered in intricate carvings of deities, dancers, and elephants. Inside, a black-stone idol of Lord Vishnu in his form as Jagannath presides, and the views from the roof across the city and lake are superb.
