Golconda Fort

History

Golconda Fort, originally a mud fort from the 13th century, was rebuilt in stone by the Qutb Shahi dynasty in the 16th century and became the capital of one of India's greatest kingdoms. Its defensive design is famous for a hand-clap at the entrance that can be heard at the Durbar Hall 300 metres away. The nearby Qutb Shahi tombs and the view from the top over Hyderabad complete the visit.
