History
The City Palace of Udaipur is the largest palace complex in Rajasthan, begun by Maharana Udai Singh II in 1559 and extended by his successors over four centuries. A series of eleven palaces, courtyards, and gardens rise in white marble above Lake Pichola, with the Mor Chowk's exquisite mosaic peacocks a highlight. Parts remain a royal residence; most is museum.
