History
The City Palace complex, begun in 1729 by Sawai Jai Singh II, was the seat of the Jaipur royal family and still houses part of it today. Its courtyards, the Chandra Mahal, and the museum of royal costumes, weapons, and painted miniatures trace four centuries of Rajput court life. The iconic pink-and-cream facade of the gateway is one of Jaipur's most photographed corners.
