Shillong

Shillong, capital of Meghalaya, is the gateway to some of the wettest and greenest places on Earth. The town itself, with its British-era churches, lakes, and cafes, is laid-back, but the real draw is an hour or two away: the living root bridges of Nongriat and Nongthymmai, the waterfalls of Cherrapunji and the soaring cliffs of Laitlum Canyon.
