Things to do, best time to visit and tours for each city.
7–8 days covers the classic route of Jaipur, Jodhpur and Udaipur at a comfortable pace. With 10–14 days you can add Jaisalmer and a night in a desert camp, Pushkar, and a tiger safari in Ranthambore. Add 2–3 days if you also want Delhi and Agra (the Taj Mahal).
October to March, when days are sunny and pleasant (around 22–28 °C) and desert nights are cool. April to June is very hot, often above 40 °C. July to September brings monsoon rain — Udaipur's lakes are full and green, but Ranthambore's core zones are closed.
A popular 10-day route: Jaipur (2 nights) → Pushkar (1) → Jodhpur (2) → Jaisalmer (2, including a desert camp) → Udaipur (2), driving between cities with stops such as the Ranakpur Jain temples on the way to Udaipur. A shorter 7-day route is Jaipur → Jodhpur → Udaipur.
Most travellers use a private car with a driver, which lets you stop at villages, stepwells and temples on the way. Typical drives: Jaipur to Jodhpur about 5–6 hours, Jodhpur to Jaisalmer about 5 hours, Jodhpur to Udaipur about 5 hours, Jaipur to Ranthambore about 3 hours. Some legs can also be done by train or a short domestic flight.
Yes — Ranthambore National Park is one of the best places in India to see wild tigers. Safaris run by jeep or open canter, mornings and afternoons, from October to June; the core zones close for the monsoon from July to September. Book early, as safari permits are limited.
Very. Distances are manageable, hotels range from family-run havelis to palace hotels, and highlights like Amber Fort, camel rides in the dunes and boat rides on Lake Pichola work well for all ages. With a private car and guide you set the pace, with plenty of breaks.
