Haridwar

Haridwar is one of the seven holiest cities of Hinduism, marking the point where the Ganges descends from the mountains to the plains. Its ghats along the river, led by the evening Aarti at Har Ki Pauri, attract pilgrims year-round, and every twelve years the Kumbh Mela fills the town with millions of devotees. Within an hour are the sacred temple towns of Rishikesh and Chandi Devi by cable car.
