Shimla

Shimla, capital of Himachal Pradesh, was the summer capital of British India, and its Ridge, Mall Road, and Gothic churches still carry that heritage. Above the town, the Kalka-Shimla Toy Train, a UNESCO-listed railway, crawls up the mountainside through 100 tunnels. From Kufri and the surrounding peaks you look straight at the snow line of the Himalayas on a clear day.
